Wendell is one of only a half dozen cities located on Interstate 84; many other locations require leaving the freeway by up to as much as 5 miles to find needed services and lodging. In 1994 the Idaho State Department of Transportation I-84 axle count, was 123,000 + cars per day average, and continues to increase.

Magic Valley has been experiencing 12 - 15% population growth each year for the past eight years and is expected to continue for at least the next ten years.

State Highway 46 has just extended from Interstate 84 to State Highway 30 through now what is the Clear Springs Grade. This has opened the traffic patterns to State Highway 93, Twin Falls, Jackpot, Nevada and all points in between. This has increased the 8,000 + cars passing through Wendell City each day.

Hagerman Fossil Beds, one of the largest paleontology digs in North America, has recently received National Park status. National park officials are expecting 175,000 plus visitors a year. Hagerman is just ten miles from Wendell and Dome Inn will be able to easily accommodate the increased tourism.

4.1 - Industry Analysis

A survey taken by the Wendell Community Action Team in September of 1994, concerning motel occupancy, indicated that the state average was virtually 100% for the seven summer months and 62% overall average for the off season months. Magic Valley has been experiencing far better occupancy averages than the State averages, in fact there was more demand than available lodging throughout the summer season. It was determined that the Wendell area needed a Motel to serve a portion of those that pass on Interstate 84 and through Wendell on State Highway 46 each day.
